Hi, I’m Matt Barton, a professor of rhetoric and professional writing, indie game developer, and lifelong lover of storytelling.
I’m the creator and host of Matt Chat, a YouTube series dedicated to preserving and celebrating the history of video games. Through developer interviews and deep dives into iconic titles, I aim to highlight the artistry and innovation behind the games we love. I’m also the author of Dungeons and Desktops, a comprehensive history of RPGs that connects gaming’s past to its future.
Current Project: XT Crisis
Right now, I’m channeling my love for storytelling into XT Crisis: The Activation. This dystopian indie game explores humanity’s uneasy relationship with technology, love, and control. It’s a thought-provoking narrative about the high cost of perfection and the challenges of reconciling progress with humanity.
